Suzie Yazzie
Her name is Suzie Yazzie and she has lived in Monument Valley all her life. She cards wool and spins her own thread to weave !She began demonstrating rug weaving to tourists in the 1940's. She started weaving at the age of 10 and now at age 83, she continues to enjoy sharing her art. She is acknowledged as the first valley resident to pioneer tourist home visits. On having visitors she says: "I want them to remember how rugs are made and that I still do !". Many thanks to my friend Casey who could meet her and take these wonderful pics !
